You can submit music via tumblr fanmail? Send me a message with a Soundcloud link (HAS to be soundcloud for various reasons. Trust me, it limits what I can post too, but I don’t want to use youtube links that get deleted from youtube too frequently, or spotify which most people don’t feel like installing, and would break the consistency at this point.) and the name of the song with proper credit given to the artist and remix artist(s)! If I like the song, I’ll post it. If I don’t, then I won’t judge you for listening to it :P

I’ll post stuff I like as I would any other song, only I’ll give credit to the blogger that submitted it! (If you don’t want to be credited, I can put it as an anonymous submission too! Just let me know in the message)

Starting as a new thing in the new year, I’m gonna do occasional news posts and such!

As of right now, this new thing won’t mean much, considering my very small follower count, but it’s good for keeping people updated of new genre tags, expected change, etc

This first one, however, will answer some questions some people may have:

- Music availability

I post what I can find on soundcloud. I don’t use spotify because I’m aware most people don’t feel like downloading/installing it. (including me!) I don’t post anything straight from my computer unless I have explicit consent. (which is almost never, unless it’s like a friend’s music, or my own, even, neither of which have happened as of yet) This, of course, means there are plenty of songs I WANT to post but can’t, because they aren’t on soundcloud. However, I’ve managed to work around it, so it’s not a huge deal.

- General musical theme?

The theme of the music is just basically stuff I like and listen to. (with some exceptions that would really stand out a little too far) I know people sometimes already have bitched about the lack of a rock tag, so if you’re looking for rock, just look in indie first, then in alt/other. You’re sure to find something. I don’t hate rock, guys. :P I like it just as much as any other genre!

- Submitting/suggesting music

If it’s on soundcloud, send me a link in a fanmail/ask to either the soundcloud page or even a tumblr post that has it! If I like it, I’ll post/reblog it here. It’s really just that simple. You can’t submit music directly to the blog, though… For now anyway.

- “Real music” and musical ~~purists~~ elitists

Please do not try to tell me what “real music” is. I don’t care. I’m not into music theory, and even though I make my own junk, I’m just not so interested in the concept of turning an art into a mathematical formula. Music, to me, is a sound that conveys a feeling, carries a beat, or both, etc. Please stop trying to make it an intelligence-based thing, because to me, that’s boring.

If I like it, I like it. If I don’t like it, then I don’t. To me, it’s all taste and opinion, and you’re completely welcome to your own taste. You’re allowed to not like the same music I like, but pleeeease stop with the “real music” crap.
